When the kids are sick: fluids and rest are the best. :)

I am not quite as good as you are at restricting myself or my family from "artificial" ingredients etc.. but I do try to make more wholesome choices than most of my friends do, and one thing I feel that is important is to make your kids eat their vegetables even if they don't like them. One of my friends has picky kids and one of her kids will not eat any kind of vegetable at all. Her kids are sick all the time! Obviously we don't want to torture the children so experimentation would be in order of different veggies and different ways to cook them or flavors to add, but begging your 6 year old to take a bite of salad while she adamantly refuses, doesn't seem like the best way to handle getting good food into your child. This particular child is scrawny and headstrong against eating things that don't come the way she orders them. My house is a home with a family... not a personal restaurant for my kids so if I serve wheat bread... they eat wheat bread (WITH CRUSTS.) If I serve grilled asparagus... my kids will eat it, even if they don't like it. Just something I thought was noteworthy when talking about feeding our children healthy foods.
